Rafi Nova was founded with the mission of empowering communities both near and far to lead healthier and happier lives. In February 2020, we launched our business by creating travel accessories like bags and pouches designed with handmade textiles from Hmong Vietnamese artisans. However, when the earliest phases of our business’s growth coincided with the earliest phases of the Coronavirus shutdowns, we realized our business would have to adapt in order to survive. In order to achieve our goal of creating a safer, better world for our children, we shifted our manufacturing capabilities toward making face masks that met the different needs of different people. For every sale, we made a donation of masks to workers on the frontlines. Additionally, we designed masks that supported relevant social movements occurring at the time, such as a Pride mask for June and a mask for Black Lives Matter. Each time, we donated all or part of the profits we made. However, Rafi Nova was founded to go above and beyond the status quo, so we have decided to do more. Starting in August 2020, we have committed to donating a portion of our monthly earnings to nonprofit organizations that align with our mission. We are so excited and grateful to be able to support communities through the work we do. In August, right in time for National Non-Profit Day, we are thrilled to be partnering with Take Flyte, which empowers students living in underserved communities through transformative travel experiences. At Rafi Nova, we think travel is a vital part of a global education that makes the world a better place, and we hope to help create these opportunities for everyone. We also want to wish a thank you to all our customers for keeping Rafi Nova’s mission and vision alive during these tough times. We hope to be able to support you in your next adventure very soon!
